Englishmen abroad

It's been a while since we let you have any sneak peeks at the Winter book, so as a reward for being soooo very patient, here's a self-contained scene from what would, if The DFC had continued, have been Episode 13: "Smoke & Mirrors". (To put that into the context of the graphic novel, it's near the end of Chapter Three - about a third of the way through the book.)

The Orient Express has stopped at Vienna and Jack takes the opportunity to stretch his legs on the platform. The main point of the scene was to develop the relationship between Jack and McNab. But looking back at it now, having completed the first book, it's interesting how many of the apparently incidental details get reincorporated into the story later.
