The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker
-
It’s worth pausing first of all to consider what a Clive Barker-ish title
that is, combining as it does his love of the grand and awesome, of
secrets, and ...
What I really love about this episode is the meeting between Jack and Estelle with the railway line running between them. It just perfectly encapsulates the transitory nature of their relationship - so near and yet so far.
ReplyDeleteKind of poignant really.
I've become very fond of Jack and Estelle while I've been writing their story, and the worst thing about finding ourselves stranded in publishing limbo has been the emotional wrench of having to let go of them and move on to new projects.
ReplyDeleteBut it's like the end of The Tempest, I suppose, in that it will be up to each individual reader to decide where they would like Jack's and Estelle's story to end up:
"Gentle breath of yours my sails
Must fill, or else my project fails,
Which was to please."
Being in the same boat as Big Bill Shakespeare - that's not too shabby!
